Recently, a confessional booth made of development application signs showed up at Dude Chilling Park. The work, titled “Host House,” was created by TAPEWORM corp, a group of artists hell-bent on making topical and interesting unsanctioned art. look for the booth as it pops up around the city over the coming weeks. Or, check it out at 1965 main st. at the Liquidation World show, June 22 ,6-8pm.

What ethos of Tapeworm Corp?
The Ethos of TAPEWORM corp is to bring attention to problems in society from a new perspective, a perspective located in the intestines. We feed on the "shit" of society to create our interventions, we call these interventions Symptoms. The hope is that society (our host) will feel these symptoms and be forced to change their diet, their perspective, and as a result change the world.
What made you want to install the confession booth piece in public as opposed to a gallery?
We plan to set up the confession booth in multiple spots around the city over the coming weeks, and we are making a short documentary of the confessions in collaboration with Oddlife Productions. Dude Chilling seemed like a good place to start, In a city where not many feel ownership over any given place, how Dude Chilling got its name is a perfect example of the power that we have to create change over our environment.
We think that it is important to exhibit work in public as well as in a gallery. In public is important because it is everyone reacting to the given piece rather than just "art snobs" ; it's more democratic. Like a local who came up to us at Dude Chilling, who has built bike trailers that carry all his belongings, he properly critiqued all the things wrong with our trailer that carries the booth, that's valuable information that we might never receive in a gallery context.
But the less bullshity answer is we have currently only been contacted by one gallery, Liquidation World! The booth will be up on June 22 6-8pm at 1965 main st.
If any other galleries are interested in showing our work please email us at Tapewormcorp@gmail.com.
Is there anything you want to say about the piece?
The piece is called Host House, it's a transient form of architecture cladded in rezoning/development application signs, that is transported by a trailer made of recycled bike frames, and carry-able by bike or foot. It features high ceilings, a sky light, a back porch, and electricity. It was built over the last 6 months with help from over 20 Worms. It is transient in the way that it can be an art gallery, a confession booth, a shelter, it's basically a mini architectural blank canvas.
Why are found objects so appealing for you as a material in your work?
Well for one they are free, running a corporation isn't cheap so one of the best ways to save money is keep material costs low. 2nd they are everywhere, society is filled with excess, not garbage, and sometimes all it takes, is for that excess to be reconfigured so it can become useful again. and third is context, found objects come to us with a past life that often speaks volumes if its identity can be preserved, our job is to shift the objects form so people can see it speaking.
Street art is often art on structures. It’s not so often that the art is the structure. Are there more guerrilla buildings in our future?
I like that idea of flipping the canvas so it becomes the paint , our concept building team will keep that in mind looking forward. More movable guerilla structures are currently in the works, as well as other Symptoms that are currently under multiple NDAs and tied up in bureaucratic purgatory. What would you create if you an unlimited budget and no constraints?
Probably a planet made from all the waste from earth, we would hire all the best marketing teams to make it most appealing to all the world's most psychopathic billionaires/politicians. Then they would buy into it like its Epstein island, but it’d actually be a bricolage death star, and we would ship them all off, to a galaxy far far away. earth would be saved. Symbiosis would be regained, and Tapeworm corp would be forced into remission. This is a good point to state in many ways Tapeworm Corp is no better than any other corporation. We are simply exploiting our current system in order to gain money and power, for we are a parasite. We are TAPEWORM. This is our greatest strength and our greatest weakness, if we grow too large we will slide out of our host's asshole and die. so our goal is to maintain a healthy scale, spread to multiple hosts, and fight the man, hopefully without becoming him.
